2-bedroom flat in The Tramshed, Bath

Clair Strong Interior Design was hired to provide interior design services for a two-bedroom flat in The Tramshed in Bath. Built in 1820, the building once served as the depot for Bath’s tram service, and has been redeveloped into apartments, a furniture shop and restaurant.

The client was a retiree who had recently downsized from a larger house to this two-bedroom flat. Clair worked with the client to create a comfortable and stylish new home using a mix of the client’s existing furniture and new pieces.

We upholstered the client’s armchairs in Colefax & Son and footstool in Jane Churchill fabrics and complemented the with pieces from Sofa.com and Loaf.

Kitchen

Living room

In the beautiful dark blue kitchen, we used classic Farrow & Ball paint in Pointing and Wimborne White on the walls, ceiling and woodwork to bring elegance and warmth to the room.

To make the most of the space we designed a bookcase and storage wall in the living room, also housing a TV, shelving cubes in the guest room and wardrobes in the main bedroom.

Throughout the apartment, hard flooring was from Amtico, whilst the carpets were from Crucial Trading. In the elegant bathrooms we used large format marble effect porcelain tiles from Mandarin Stone.

Blinds throughout were made using subtle and sophisticated Colefax & Fowler floral fabrics. The blinds in the main bedroom were in Alderney, a pretty wisteria trail with soft painterly flowers and wispy leaves, and in the guest room we used Callista, a mixed floral design with delicate fern fronds and tropical butterflies.

Clair Strong Interior Design provided design and on-going consultancy together with coordinating, sourcing and styling advice.

Finished to an exceptional standard, the flat is a wonderful city centre base for this retiree.
